Attorney Alvestad understands Gig Harbor and the surrounding area because he grew up here. He’s a graduate of Gig Harbor’s Peninsula High School and was raised on a family farm nearby. He learned the value of hands-on hard work, how to collaborate, and the importance of having the right tools for the job from harvesting hay and managing more than 100 cattle.
After college and law school, he returned to become an integral part of the Gig Harbor community. He was a board member of the Peninsula Light Company, a member-owned cooperative, for more than 25 years. He chaired and served on several land use committees that played a key role in establishing zoning and land use criteria in Pierce County. He is the past president of the Tacoma/Pierce County Estate Planning Council, and has been active as an adult leader in Boy Scouts and as a Rotarian. These experiences give him a comprehensive understanding of Gig Harbor’s economy, values and way of life.
